Orgi Forest
The day Navarre taught you to stop
You leave Ttipiaenea in the morning, without an alarm if you can afford it. The air is fresh, clean, with that smell of countryside that promises a quiet day. You drive a few minutes and you're already in another rhythm: the Ultzama Valley, green, rolling, dotted with farmsteads and meadows where time seems to move more slowly.
A forest that isn't just any forest
The moment you enter the Orgi Forest, something changes. It isn't just any forest: it's an ancient oak wood, one of the last preserved in Navarre. You don't come here to "do a route", you come to slow down.
The trail is comfortable, practically flat, perfect for walking effortlessly. The ground —soft, leaf-covered— cushions every step. Sometimes it crunches softly, other times it makes no sound at all.
Four versions of the same miracle
The oaks are tall, irregular, with trunks that tell stories. Some twist, others open out into broad branches that filter the light.
What matters is walking with no agenda
Maybe you sit on a wooden bench. Maybe you do nothing for a few minutes. And that, precisely, is what makes this place special.
Before heading back, you can stop in Lizaso or at some small restaurant in the valley. The food here is simple and authentic.
